Mississippi’s Big 3 making final recruiting push

Posted: February 3, 2009

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — It looks like Mississippi State and Mississippi could land Top 20 classes as Wednesday’s national signing day approaches. But as with all things dependent on the whims of 17 and 18 year olds, there remains some mystery.

Scout.com ranks the Bulldogs’ class at No. 15 on Tuesday and Rivals put the school at No. 21. The Rebels are 23rd in Scout’s rankings and a more distant 35th in Rivals.com.

Coach Houston Nutt believes, though, that the Rebels will be jumping up in those standings when a few surprises sign with Ole Miss on the strength of its No. 14 finish and dominating Cotton Bowl win.

Rivals.com has Southern Miss ranked 54th going into signing day and Scout.com puts the school at 62nd. Fedora believes he can nudge the class into the top 50 again with a fast finish.
